so i have been hunting in north central wis. for 22 years and i have seen my share of wildlife however i do believe there is a misconception as to the type of wolf we have here and maybe im wrong i have seen wolves from my bow stand thatwere less than 3 paces from my ladder and there is no way that what i saw was a grey wolf i am positive it was a timber wolf and i believe we have way more timber wolves here than the dnr wants us to believe i would appreciate some feedback either way the wolfs i saw i would say the smallest was around 110 lbs and the alpha prolly 220 approx.

It's unlikely you are seeing a 220 lb wolf. State record is around 108 lbs I believe, according to the WTA/DNR advanced wolf trapper training course I took this fall. While anythings possible, the average WI wolf is smaller than the western wolf. Ours average around 70 pounds. It would be shocking to think that the smallest wolf you've seen is bigger than the state record. How they determined the state record, I'm not sure. It sounds pretty good in your area. You better get a wolf tag B)
