A proposal to create a November starting date for wolf hunting and trapping seasons in Wisconsin is being circulated for co-sponsorship in the Legislature. The proposed legislation, labeled LRB 2457, is sponsored by Sen. Tom Tiffany (R-Hazelhurst), Rep. Al Ott (R-Forest Junction) and Rep. Chris Danou (D-Trempeleau).

Under current state law, wolf hunting and trapping seasons start Oct. 15. The proposal would delay the start to the first Saturday in November. A later starting date would cause fewer conflicts between trappers and upland bird hunters using dogs as well as allow for harvest of wolves with pelts in better condition, according to the sponsors.

Wolf hunting and trapping currently is prohibited in the western Great Lakes region due to a December 2014 federal judge’s decision. The decision is being appealed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Update on this issue (It appears destined for a November start if we can get them delisted). 1 positive of this date is that it's more likely to give cable restrainters a chance if the season goes past 12/1 like it did in 1 of the zones last year (zone 6 as I recall):
